This is a piece I composed for the UMBC gamelan. We were scheduled to perform it in April 2020 but it was canceled due to the covid crisis. This was recorded with me playing all parts on instruments I built plus other instruments substituting for gamelan instruments, all tuned to the UMBC gamelan tuning. I'm not altogether happy with this recording, and plan to do another, but I'm putting this up free so UMBC gamelan students will have it as a reference if it's decided to perform it. If anyone else would like to perform it, let me know and I can send you notassi (notation). The piece has a section in 7/8, one in 5/8, and one with a 5 against 7 polymeter. Bermain Berung means "playing birds".
